MOUNT PLEASANT - The two-time defending Mid-American Conference tournament champion and No. 2 seed Central Michigan will square off with No. 3 seed Western Michigan in the semifinals of the 2011 MAC Tournament Friday at 2:05 p.m. in Toledo, Ohio.

The Chippewas' (15-2-3) only conference loss was suffered to the Broncos (13-7-0) on October 14 when WMU claimed a 1-0 victory in Kalamazoo.

The winner will advance to Sunday's championship match versus the winner of Friday's first semifinal match at 11 a.m. between No. 1 Toledo and No. 5 Buffalo.

CMU vs. The Field All-Time
- 10-8 vs. Western Michigan; 4-5-6 vs. Toledo; 8-3-3 vs. Buffalo
- Western Michigan's 1-0 win on Oct. 14 snapped CMU's four-game winning streak in the series
- CMU is 3-0-3 in its last six contests versus Toledo, including a 1-0 win on Oct. 21.
- The Maroon and Gold have held Buffalo scoreless over their last three meetings, going 2-0-1 versus the Bulls.

Scouting the Field
- Western Michigan is led by MAC Offensive Player of the Year candidate Stephanie Skowneski. The senior has scored six goals and tallied eight assists to lead the Broncos with 20 points and is the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 24.
- Rachel McLeod, also a candidate for MAC Offensive Player of the Year, leads the Rockets with nine goals and nine assist. Vicki Traven protects the net for Toledo, posting a goals-against average of just 0.94.
- The Bulls have been led all year by the play of goalkeeper Ainsley Weldon. The sophomore has allowed just 14 goals and made 137 saves to post a goals-against average of 0.68, while posting 10 shutouts. UB won its first MAC Tournament game since 2000 Sunday, defeating Kent State, 2-1.

CMU in the MAC Tournament
- The Chippewas are 14-8-2 all-time during conference postseason play and have won six-straight en route to back-to-back tournament titles.
- Friday marks CMU's ninth appearance all-time in the MAC semifinals and a win would advance them to their fifth championship match in program history.
- CMU has narrowly outscored its opponents, 32-31, in its 12 MAC Tournament appearances, but has outscored teams, 9-3, over its last two.

Ms. MAC All-Tournament Team
Senior midfielder Claire Horton has been named to the MAC All-Tournament team each of the last two seasons. Horton would become the first Chippewa in program history to earn the award three times, as former Chippewas Cari VanDyck (2001, '03) and Laura Roberts (2003, '04) each earned the honor twice as well.

Bouncing Back
Since suffering a 1-0 defeat to Western Michigan on Oct. 14 in Kalamazoo, CMU has reeled off five straight wins, four of which have come in shutout fashion. The five-match winning streak is the longest of their season.

CMU Soccer Complex Streak at 34
With no games remaining at the CMU Soccer Complex in 2011, the Chippewas' unbeaten streak at home will extend into the 2012 season. The Maroon and Gold have not lost in Mount Pleasant in their last three seasons, going 30-0-4 during the stretch. Their last loss came to Toledo, 1-0, on Oct. 19, 2008.
