Lane has been in the collegiate ranks for 15 years. She assisted Central Michigan in earning its 10th Mid-American Conference Tournament title and make its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2003. Lane coached an infield that had two second team All-MAC selections in sophomore CarolAnn Sexauer and sophomore Trista Cox. The 2013 Chippewas finished MAC play 15-7 and 4-0 in the tournament. 

In her first season with CMU, the Chippewas posted a 30-27 overall record and fell in the championship game of the MAC Tournament to Miami. She helped to coach an infield that saw freshman Chelsea DeLamielleure claim Freshmen All-MAC honors and Molly Coldren Second Team All-MAC.  She also assisted in coaching Coldren to a new single-season home run record at 16 and a new career RBI record at 137.

Lane a 2002 graduate from Georgetown College has spent the past three seasons as the head softball coach at South Dakota State. While there she helped the program set numerous records such as highest batting average, runs scored, doubles, triples, and home runs.

Lane does have some Mid-American Conference experience under her belt. Before taking the job at SDSTU she was an assistant softball coach at Northern Illinois. While there she oversaw the recruiting, player developments, academic monitoring, fund raising, travel and planning team events.
