State Bragging Rights on the Line as CMU Takes On No. 19 Wolverines

Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Central Michigan wrestling program will look to continue its' success versus in-state foe Michigan Sunday at 2 p.m. 

The Chippewas (5-3) have won four of the last six meetings between the two schools and will look to continue the trend with an upset of the No. 19 Wolverines (2-2).

The Series: CMU is just 6-20 all time versus the Wolverines, but has won of four of the last five meetings, including a 21-16 victory inside McGuirk Arena last season. 

CMU vs. State of Michigan: The Chippewas have won 19 of their last 21 dual meets against in-state opponents. The Chippewas' two defeats came at the hands of the Wolverines in 2011 and 2012. CMU has won 22 straight duals over Eastern Michigan, 12 straight over Michigan State and four of the last 

Keener Continues to Climb: Redshirt freshman 125-pounder Corey Keener made another move up the rankings this week, coming in at No. 10 in the country by InterMat and No. 7 by Amateur Wrestling News. Keener is 11-1 in his first season in the Maroon and Gold and has a pair of wins over ranked opponents.

MAC Announces December Rankings: Keener, senior Joe Roth (133 pounds), sophomore Zach Horan (141 pounds) and junior Mike Ottinger (174 pounds) are all ranked No. 2 in the Mid-American Conference, the league office announced Thursday. CMU is currently projected to finish fourth at the 2014 MAC Championships according to the coaches' poll based on individual rankings.

Looking Ahead: CMU will wrestle its final dual of the 2013 calendar year and look to improve to 2-0 in the MAC when it travels to Northern Illinois on Saturday, Dec. 21. Individuals will travel to the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn., on New Years Day.
