The Central Michigan women's basketball program will continue to play top-notch competition next season, which will include a trip to the Paradise Jam to play Kansas, Duke and Xavier.
Central Michigan to Play in 2013 Paradise Jam

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Central Michigan women’s basketball program has been invited to participate in the 2013 Ezybonds Global Payments US Virgin Islands Paradise Jam and will once again take on some of the nation’s elite over the three-day tournament.

The Chippewas, who played the third toughest non-conference schedule during the 2012-13 season, will take on Kansas in the opening game of the tournament on Nov. 28 before squaring off against ACC Champion Duke Nov. 29 and Xavier in the tournament finale.

The Jayhawks finished the 2012-13 season ranked No. 25 in the country, advancing to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 1 seed Notre Dame for a overall record of 20-14. KU upset No. 5 seed Colorado and No. 4 seed South Carolina as a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Devils claimed the ACC regular season title with a 17-1 conference record and advanced to the “Elite 8” of the NCAA Tournament before also falling to Notre Dame. Duke entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed and knocked off No. 15 seed Hampton, No. 7 seed Oklahoma State and No. 6 seed Nebraska before bowing out to Notre Dame to finish with an overall record of 33-3.

Xavier finished 13-16 in 2013 and saw its season end in the Atlantic 10 first round when it was upset by Temple, 52-42. The Musketeers recently joined the joined the new Big East and lose just two seniors.

Central Michigan claimed a Mid-American Conference Tournament title in 2013 and qualified for its first NCAA Tournament since 1984. The Chippewas finished 21-12 and will return seven players that played 10 or more minutes, including All-MAC First Team and WBCA Region 4 All-America candidate Crystal Bradford.
