MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women’s basketball program and head coach Sue Guevara has announced the addition of Rikke Fabricius to its 2013-14 roster.
Rikke Fabricius (REE-kay fuh-BREE-chus) joins the defending Mid-American Conference Tournament champions from Falkonergårdens gymnasium in Frederiksberg, Denmark where she was selected as an East All-Star after averaging 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds last season.
The six-foot two-inch forward also played internationally for the Denmark U21 squad where she averaged 27.1 points, 12 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
“I am very excited to add Rikke to our 2013-2014 Roster,” Guevara said. “She brings size, athleticism, rebounding and scoring to our post position. She has good hands, runs the floor and can score at the rim and off the bounce. She will compliment the post players we already have on our roster.”
Fabricius led Falkonergårdens to the Danish Cup title in 2012-13 after winning a regular season title in 2011-12. She also played for the U18 National team and went to the Nordic Championships where her squad finished runner-up in 2008-09. The squad later went on to finish sixth at the European Championships that season, marking the best finish in the program’s history.
“The recruiting process went pretty fast, but I got the feeling that CMU was the right fit for me,” Fabricius said. “I have heard only good things about Coach Guevara and I got the same feeling after talking to her.”
Fabricius joins fellow freshman Jacqueline Simpson, who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Chippewas in August, as a part of the 2013 recruiting class.
