Three Straight: Bradford Earns Another MAC West Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT - At the rate Crystal Bradford is producing for Central Michigan, the Mid-American Conference may have to rename its weekly award.

The sophomore guard was named MAC West Player of the Week by the league's coaches Monday for the third consecutive week and the fifth time this season.

Bradford made another strong case that she is the early front runner for MAC Player of the Year, helping the Chippewas get off to their best start in MAC play since 1987-88. The Detroit, Mich., native averaged 20 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 blocks per game in the Chippewas' double-digit victories over rival Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.

The Chippewas defeated the Broncos behind Bradford's 26-points and 13 rebounds, before she nearly recorded  a triple double versus the Huskies. Bradford scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds versus NIU, but it was her floor vision that had the fans on their feet as she tied her career high with eight assists.

Through the first four games of the MAC season, Bradford leads all players in scoring (20.0) and rebounding (12.3), is second in assists (5.8), third in blocks (1.8) and tied for fourth in steals (3.0).

CMU will look to continue its four-game winning streak Wednesday when it travels to Athens, Ohio to take on the Bobcats at 7 p.m.
