Senior Kara Dornbos is coming off of her second MAC Pitcher of the Week honor after going 2-0 with a shutout over the Broncos. Dornbos has won her previous five starts and has an ERA of 1.97 in that time. She currently ranks third in the conference among all pitchers with a 2.03 ERA on the season and has a team-high eight wins.
Senior Macy Merchant is on pace to crack the top-three in program history for career batting average. Merchant, hitting .358 over her four years, is third in the MAC with .412 batting average, and leads the team with 49 hits. She has moved into a tie for fourth all-time in program history with 67 career stolen bases, and tied the single-game record with five hits against Kent State on April 7.
Junior Cory DeLamielleure comes into this weekend on an offensive hot streak. DeLamielleure has hit over .400 in the last 11 outings and has tallied six home runs this season, two coming at NIU on April 12. She has been solid defensively the whole year, leading the conference with five pick-offs and is sixth with 10 runners caught stealing,
Central Michigan will welcome back the 1982 MAC Championship team on Saturday, April 20, as the Chippewas battle Toledo. The ’82 squad marked the first female conference title in CMU history, and posted a program-record 51 wins as they finished fourth at the AIAW World Series.
Bowling Green Falcons (21-15, 5-7 MAC) • Friday, April 19, 1 p.m., Doubleheader
Bowling Green comes to Margo Jonker Stadium after being swept by Kent State last weekend. Paige Berger leads the Falcons with a .376 batting average and 44 hits. Bowling Green has two batters over .300 on the season, and rank 12th in the MAC with a team .226 average. Paris Imholz ranks second in the conference with a 1.84 ERA on the season and 13 wins. Imholz leads a pitching staff that ranks first in the MAC with a 2.17 ERA. Last time Central Michigan met with Bowling Green, the Chippewas came away with a 2-1 victory in the second round of the MAC Tournament. During the regular season last year, Central Michigan and the Falcons split at Bowling Green, 2-3 and 3-2. The Chippewas are 68-20 all-time against the Falcons.
Toledo Rockets (11-25, 4-8 MAC) • Saturday, April 20, 2 p.m. & Sunday, April 21, 1 p.m.
Toledo split two series last weekend against Kent State and Buffalo. In their the most recent outing, the Rockets beat Buffalo 2-1 in nine innings. Toledo had Wright State and Michigan State scheduled for earlier in the week, but due to rain, had both contests cancelled. The Rockets travel to Ypsilanti to take on Eastern Michigan before coming to Mount Pleasant on Saturday, April 20. McCarthy leads Toledo with a .358 batting average and five homeruns. Toledo rank third in the MAC as a team with a .282 batting average, just behind Central Michigan. Gooding has made 30 appearances for the Rockets in the circle, including eight complete games. As a pitching staff, the Rockets are last in the conference with a 5.55 ERA, and opponents have been hitting .326 against Toledo pitchers. Last season, the Chippewas split a doubleheader at Toledo, 0-4 and 4-1. Central Michigan is 63-25 all-time against the Rockets.
