Central Michigan Fires Up For Spring

Mount Pleasant, Mich.- The Central Michigan field hockey team has announced its 2013 spring schedule. The Chippewas will be in three tournaments starting March 30, plus two additional 7-on-7 tournaments in April.

Central Michigan will travel an hour south to East Lansing for two games on March 30. The Chippewas will open the spring season against the Big Ten’s Ohio State, and follow-up the Buckeyes up with Indiana. Game one against Ohio State is scheduled for 1 p.m., and game two against the Hoosiers for 2 p.m.

The Chippewas will play host on March 31, welcoming Miami 1809, Miami University, and Michigan State to Mount Pleasant. The day will kick off at 11 a.m. with Central Michigan facing off against Miami 1809. The Chippewas will play their second game of the day at 1 p.m. against the Spartans, and their third at 2 p.m. against the RedHawks.

After back-to-back tournaments, Central Michigan will take two weeks off before traveling to Louisville. The Chippewas will play Mid-American Conference foe Kent State at 9:30 a.m., and close out the tournament against the host, the Cardinals, at 6:50 p.m.

In addition to participating the 2013 Spring League with Indiana, Kent State, Louisville, Miami, Miami 1809, Michigan State and Ohio State, Central Michigan will host Ball State on April 6 in Mount Pleasant for a 7-on-7 tournament. The Chippewas will compete in a second 7-on-7 tournament on April 14 at Louisville against various teams.
