Game Notes: Central Michigan Fired Up To Take On Toledo

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan continues MAC West divisional play against Toledo on Saturday when preseason favorite Toledo visits McGuirk Arena at 7 p.m. 

The Chippewas (9-15, 2-9 MAC) are 33-55 all-time against the Rockets (11-11, 7-4 MAC). The Chippewas have a slight advantage over Toledo as of late, winning six of the last 10 matchups. The Rockets have dropped four straight in Mount Pleasant and required overtime to beat a determined Chippewas team on January 12 in Toledo. 

Senior guard Kyle Randall has scored 20-plus points in five consecutive games, brining his scoring average to 17.7 ppg. Randall leads all scorers in conference play, averaging 20.4 ppg against MAC opponents. He ranks in the top 10 in the conference in five different categories.

 • THE OPENING TIP                                                              

At the line, Toledo leads the league converting 78 percent of its attempts (4th in the nation) while Central Michigan ranks second at 72 percent.

The matchup also features two of the league's top two scorers. Kyle Randall ranks second in overall scoring to just one person- Toledo's Rian Pearson who leads the league at 18.2 ppg, a half-point more than the Chippewas' senior guard. Randall scored a game-high 24 points in the meeting earlier this year.

Central Michigan trails Toledo 33-55 dating back to 1939. The Chippewas have been dominant at home, winning the previous four meetings in Mount Pleasant, and six of the past 10 overall. Toledo outlasted Central Michigan earlier this season, defeating the Chippewas 72-76 in overtime in Toledo.
