MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Incoming Central Michigan freshman John Simons earned a spot this week on the 2012 PARADE All-America High School Boys Basketball Team, the only player committed to a Mid-American Conference school named to the 40-player list.
Simons, who just wrapped up a stellar career at Cadillac High School, is one of four players who will attend school in Michigan next year - joining Michigan State's Matt Costello (Bay City Western) and Gary Harris (Hamilton Southeastern) and Michigan's Mitch McGary (Brewster Academy).
The 6-foot-8 forward was named to the 2012 all-state first team after averaging more than 28 points per game to go with 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.8 blocks and 2.4 steals. He finished third in the voting for Michigan's Mr. Basketball Award.
