Game Notes: Momentum Carried into Kalamazoo

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan will take back-to-back victories into Kalamazoo Saturday for a televised matchup at noon against West Division champion Western Michigan.

The game, called by Mike Cairns and Jacki Windon, will air live on STO and online at ESPN3.

The Broncos are riding back-to-back losses but still managed to clinch the MAC West title Tuesday thanks to the Chippewas' win over Eastern. Western is locked into the No. 3 seed for the upcoming MAC Tournament while the Chippewas could fall anywhere between No. 9 and No. 11.

A win against the Broncos would give Central the ninth seed and a road game Monday against the No. 8 seed, but with a loss the Chippewas could end up ninth, 10th or 11th, depending on Friday and Saturday's games. One thing for sure is Central will be on the road Monday for the first round of the tournament.

The Broncos handed Central Michigan a 76-59 loss in Mount Pleasant earlier this season as the Chippewas suffered through their worst shooting performance of the season. Kyle Randall and Blake Hibbitts tied for team-high scoring honors with 14 points each and Austin Keel grabbed five rebounds. The defense did produce a dozen steals on 18 Western turnovers and held the opposition to 8-of-21 from long range.

In the last 28 meetings, the road team has won just eight times. Central's most recent victory in Kalamazoo was the final game of the 2008-09 season. Each of the three losses since then have been by single-digits, including a three-point setback last year and an overtime loss the year before that.
