Chippewas Aim for 2-0 Start in the MAC at Northern Illinois

Mount Pleasant, Mich. -  The Central Michigan wrestling program will look to improve to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference action when it travels to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.

The Chippewas (5-4, 1-0 MAC) opened the MAC season with with a 29-6 victory over Buffalo on December 8.

CMU vs. NIU: The Chippewas are 31-22-2 all time versus the Huskies and have won 17 of the last 18 meetings. CMU claimed a 23-12 victory at Northern Illinois last season. NIU's last win in the series came in 2003, 16-15.

MAC Announces December Rankings: Keener, senior Joe Roth (133 pounds), sophomore Zach Horan (141 pounds) and junior Mike Ottinger (174 pounds) are all ranked No. 2 in the Mid-American Conference, the league office announced Thursday. CMU is currently projected to finish fourth at the 2014 MAC Championships according to the coaches' poll based on individual rankings.
