Mount Pleasant, Mich. – Loyal CMU alumni and the best friends of Chippewa athletics made the 2012-13 Chippewa Athletic Fund Membership Drive another record-breaking campaign by contributing $1,342,401.55 in annual gifts.
This mark not only represents an almost $60,000 increase over 2011-12’s record-breaking mark, but is also the sixth consecutive year that contributions to the CAF have eclipsed the $1 million threshold.
“The outstanding private fundraising support we have received from our alumni and fans over the past half-decade has helped to build the Championship Culture our student-athletes enjoy at CMU,” said Director of Athletics Dave Heeke.

One of the biggest catalysts for the annual fund growth has been members’ overwhelmingly positive response to the 1100 Club and Chippewa Champions programs.
On the heels of a 2012 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl Championship and the top pick in the NFL Draft, the CMU Football Program enjoyed its strongest fundraising year ever increasing 1100 Club membership and Championship Fund dollars raised.
Chippewa Champions membership also experienced tremendous growth across the board in the program’s third year of existence. Wrestling, women’s basketball and softball, building off the momentum of MAC Championship seasons, saw some of the most significant increases in membership.
The unprecedented growth and success that CMU athletics has realized in its annual fundraising efforts would not be possible without the support of CMU alums, friends and family members.
As we look ahead to 2013-14, the Chippewa Athletic Fund would like to thank every CAF member for helping CMU Athletics to secure the resources necessary to grow in our shared vision of a Championship Culture.
