Chippewas Celebrate 2011 Season
MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan volleyball program met Friday afternoon to wrap up the 2011 season with a banquet, recognizing the many accomplishments of the most recent campaign.

The 2011 season will be remembered as a collection of fantastic team accomplishments. The Chippewas finished the season with a 19-14 overall record and were sixth in the Mid-American Conference with an 8-8 record. They were able to capture the program's first MAC Tournament championship, which led to the program's first trip to the NCAA Tournament. CMU also finished the season with the second highest RPI ranking in program history at 79.

There were many individual accomplishments as well. Head coach Erik Olson captured win 100 following the first match win of the season, while senior Kaitlyn Schultz rewrote the record book, becoming the 14th Chippewa to record 1,000 kills and the first player in program history to earn four All-MAC accolades. She also set the career hitting percentage record and finished second in single-season hitting percentage. Schultz was honored as the MAC Tournament MVP while Kelly Maxwell made all-tournament team. Kaitlyn McIntyre was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team and set the freshman kill record at CMU. Lindsey Dulude was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for sporting a 3.96 GPA.
