Four Central Michigan volleyball student-athletes earned Academic All-MAC honors Thursday, the league office announced.
Volleyball Program Nabs Four Academic All-MAC Selections

MOUNT PLEASANT - Four Central Michigan volleyball student-athletes were named to the Mid-American Conference All-Academic team Thursday, the league office announced.

Senior Lindsey Dulude, juniors Kelly Maxwell and Jenna Coates and sophomore Kaitlyn McIntyre tied with Bowling Green for the largest contingent of players from one squad to be named to the team.

Dulude (Midland, Mich./Midland) was a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team selection and became the 15th player in program history with 1,000 kills, finishing her career sixth in rally scoring history with 1,065. She ranks in the top 10 in four categories at CMU and was second on the team in 2012 with 328 kills. A language arts major, Dulude has a 3.97 grade point average.

Coates (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) was a first-team All-MAC selection and earned MAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors four times in 2012. She finished the season with 546 digs, the third most in CMU rally scoring history and moved into third place all time with 1,334 career digs. She ranked fourth in the MAC and 61st in the country with 4.88 digs per set and recorded 30-plus digs on four different occasions. A sports studies major, Coates has earned a 3.48 grade point average.

Maxwell (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) was named to the All-MAC Second Team and twice earned MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2012. She recorded the fourth most assists in CMU rally scoring history with 1,211 and moved into third place all time with 2,602 career assists. Her 11.63 assists per set ranked first in the MAC and her 79 assists versus Eastern Michigan were the most in a single match by any player in the conference. She has earned a 3.36 grade point average as a language arts major.

McIntyre (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) was also a first-team All-MAC selection and earned MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 24. She recorded the ninth most kills in a single season with 395 and moved into 10th place all time in program history with 884 career points. McIntyre has earned a 3.82 grade point average and is undecided on her major.

The Chippewas finished the fall semester with a team grade point average of 3.59.

Seniors Samantha Brawley and Val DeWeerd were each named Academic All-MAC honorable mention.
