Chippewas Take Part in MAC Football Media Day
DETROIT – Head coach Dan Enos, senior running back Zurlon Tipton and senior safety Avery Cunningham represented Central Michigan at Mid-American Conference Football Media Day on Tuesday at Ford Field, unofficially ushering in the 2013 season.

The Chippewas answered questions throughout the morning from print, digital and television media members. Enos and Tipton were also interviewed on ESPN3, which broadcast the event to a national audience.

Ending the 2012 season by winning five of its last six games, including a victory in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, Central Michigan enters the 2013 season with 15 returning starters, depth throughout the roster and high expectations.

“We are very excited,” said Enos. “The way we finished last year gave us a lot of positive momentum going into the offseason.”

“We look at our roster now and at every position, there is competition. We are to the point where the older guys are playing and the younger guys are backing them up and working their way up the system. And that’s the way good programs operate.”

The MAC also released its preseason poll in conjunction with the event. CMU, which received one first-place vote, was picked by a select group of media members that cover the conference to finish fourth in the West Division. The Chippewas also received one vote to win the conference championship game.

On Monday evening, in association with media day, Enos and his coaching staff also helped instruct at the 3rd Annual MAC Youth Clinic at Ford Field. The over 200 children in attendance had the opportunity to participate in various drills and learn football technique and strategy.

CMU opens the 2013 season on the road against Michigan on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network. The Chippewas begin their home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 7 when they host New Hampshire in a 3 p.m. contest to be broadcast on ESPN3.
