CMU Finishes Strong at GVSU Tune-Up

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Central Michigan track and field team finished strong at Grand Valley State’s Tune-Up Meet on Saturday, February 22.

On the women’s side, sophomore DeJanae Terry finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a mark of 7.81, as well as freshman Chantel Edwards finished sixth with a personal best of 7.82.

Freshman Cadeisha Browning placed third in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 25.63, posting a new personal record.

In the 400-meter dash, Lexi Meilke finished second with a mark of 58.16 and Alexa Thibault placed seventh with a mark of 59.98. Meilke posted a new personal best.

Abbey Kelto and Katie Weiler both finished in the top ten of the one-mile run with marks of 5:07.91 and 5:09.22, respectively. Katelyn Maylee finished the race with a mark of 5:24.95.

Freshman Alexsis Studer posted a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 9.32, finishing in fourth place. Emma Fishnick also posted a new personal record with a mark of 9.43.

Sophomore Devene Brown placed third in the shot put with a mark of 45-01.75 and tenth in the weight throw with a mark of 48-10.25. Redshirt Freshman Kylee Dobbelaere placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 53-02.25.

On the men’s side, Brad Parsons placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.35. Gary Jones finished the race with a mark of 22.88.

Senior Parker Scott posted a new personal best in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 48.87, placing fifth. Malik Vasquez finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 48.91.

Junior Ethan Lievense won the one-mile run with a mark of 4:13.01, while Nathan Huff and Lee Anderson finished third and fourth with marks of 4:17.28 and 4:17.49, respectively.

Senior Relando Powell won the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 7.80, posting a new personal record.

Freshman Tony Armstrong placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 14-11.50 and Ryan Vincent finished sixth with a mark of 14-05.50.

Cole Walderzak placed second in the shot put with a mark of 53-07.50, while Dylan Banagis and Alex Rose placed fourth and fifth in the weight throw with marks of 57-10.25 and 57-03.50, respectively.

The Maroon and Gold will head to the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on February 28-March 1 in Kent, Ohio.
