Stovall was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, Szpyrka 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI and Mitzel 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI. He is now CMU's all-time leader in runs batted in with 187 career RBI.
Szpyrka's two-run double in the fifth inning opened the scoring. He later scored on Mitzel's first double to give CMU a 3-0 lead after five innings.
A three-run homer by Stovall and Mitzel's second double, which again plated Szpyrka, bumped the Chippewa lead to 7-0 in the sixth inning.
Duquesne tallied two runs in the top of the eighth, but CMU answered with two of its own in the bottom half.
Ben Rodewald earned the win in relief. He shut out the Dukes on one hit over 4-1 1/3 innings. Rodewald struck out two and walked a pair.
The Chippewas, winners of four of their last five overall, open a three-game series at Stetson Friday night.
