Hernandez Signs With Blue Jays

Hernandez guided the Chippewas to a 2010 MAC championship with his best collegiate season. He finished the year 8-3 with a 4.58 ERA.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Senior Central Michigan pitcher Jesse Hernandez signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays as an an undrafted free agent on Tuesday.

He becomes the seventh former Chippewa currently active in Major League Baseball and the 17th player to be drafted or sign with a MLB franchise under head coach Steve Jaksa.

Teammate and battery mate Dale Cornstubble also joined that list last week when he was selected in the 40th round of the MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals.
