MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan junior Trista Cox earned her first career MAC West Co-Player of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday.
In softball’s opening weekend, Cox hit a home run in each of Central Michigan's three wins at the Rosemont Rumble, including a solo blast that gave the Chippewas a 1-0 win over Drake in the season opener.
The junior finished the weekend 4-for-12 (.333) with three home runs and five RBI as CMU picked up a pair of wins over Drake and defeated Illinois-Chicago to claim three victories.
Ball State’s Tayler Rager was also awarded MAC West Player of the Week honors.
The Maroon and Gold are back in action this weekend in Arlington, Texas for the UTA Maverick Invitational. The Chippewas will open the tournament Friday against South Dakota State at 6 p.m. ET.
