MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Connor Kelly, a 6-5 right-handed pitcher from Chandler Gilbert Community College, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Central Michigan baseball program.
Kelly appeared in 19 games for the Coyotes as a freshman last season, posting a perfect 3-0 mark and 2.35 earned run average in 19 appearances. He made three starts on the mound and struck out 26 batters in 46 innings pitched.
“We were looking for someone that fit what we needed and at the end of the day, we feel he is a guy that can come in and be ready to pitch right away,” head coach Steve Jaksa said. "Connor pitched really well last summer and he is continuing to improve. We think he has a high ceiling. That was one of the things that attracted Jeff [Opalewski] to him. He's a smart kid and we're really excited to have him on board because of the high ceiling he has."
Kelly joins Blake Cleveland, Dazon Cole, Daniel Jipping, Pat Leatherman and Zach McKinstry as a part of CMU’s 2014 recruiting class.
