Chippewas Fall to No. 10 Stanford, 1-0

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Central Michigan field hockey team was unable to find the back of the cage in its 1-0 loss to No. 10 Stanford (4-1) on Saturday.

The Chippewas and Cardinal could not score in the first half of play. CMU goalkeeper Sadie Reynolds saved 14 shots – including nine in the first half, marking a new season-high. Reynolds has 43 saves in the first six games of the 2013 season.

Stanford’s sophomore back, Clemence Couteau put the Cardinal on the board off a deflection at the 47:05 mark in the second half. The Red and White had 15 shots on goals.

The Chippewas had just two shots on goal in the contest, but neither senior Bailey McKeon or freshman Maude Stalars were able to convert on their attempts.

CMU will be facing New Hampshire in a neutral site contest on Saturday, September 21 at 1p.m. and Maine on September 22 at 1p.m. Both contests will be played in Orono, Maine.
