MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan sophomore Jordan Foley has been named the Mid-American Conference West Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced Tuesday.
Foley took a no hitter into the fifth inning Friday and struck out a career-high eight batters to lead the Chippewas to a 4-2 win at Western Kentucky. The sophomore right hander was limited to 6.0 nnings of work on pitch count, but was still able to set a new career high in strikeouts while holding the Hilltoppers scoreless and giving up just two hits. Foley is now 1-0 on the season with a team-best 0.69 earned run average and 15 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
The Chippewas are back in action this weekend at the Brighthouse Tournament hosted by Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. Foley will take the mound in game one of the tournament versus host Stetson Friday at 7 p.m.
