MOUNT PLEASANT — Central Michigan will face in-state rival Eastern Michigan in the opening round of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Baseball Tournament.

The No. 3 seed Chippewas and No. 6 seed Eagles will meet Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, Ohio. The winner will advance to face either No. 2 Toledo or No. 7 Miami in the second round of the double elimination tournament.

CMU dropped two of three games at Eastern Michigan earlier this season, losing on a two-run walk-off home run in the series finale.

The Maroon and Gold (30-27 overall, 17-10 MAC) are seeking their third MAC Tournament title in program history and the first since 1995. They are 1-3 all-time in tournament play versus the Eagles.

WMHW-FM 91.5 will carry each of CMU's games during the tournament and fans can also get live in-game updates throughout the week by following the Chippewas' official twitter account @CMUBaseball. The radio broadcasts also will be streamed live for free through CMUChippewas.com.
