Mount Pleasant, Mich. - Central Michigan junior Crystal Bradford has been named the Mid-American Conference West Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The award is the second of the season for Bradford and the ninth of her career.
Bradford continued her tear to the start of the season, averaging 23.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 3.0 assists per game as the Chippewas split contests versus Prairie View A&M and No. 4 Notre Dame.
The Detroit, Mich., native posted double-doubles in each of the contests, pulling in 16 rebounds for the second-straight game to go with her 16 points versus Prairie View A&M while also matching her career high with seven steals. She followed her Wednesday performance up with a 30-point, 13-rebound and 5-steal showing versus the fourth-ranked Fighting Irish.
Despite the Irish's attempt to stop her with preseason All-Americans Jewel Loyd and Kayla McBride, Bradford continued to score, posting her second 30-plus game of the season and the third of her career. She also had five steals in the game on the defensive end.
Bradford is now the only player in the MAC averaging a double-double with 21.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest.
The Chippewas and Bradford are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 28 when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to take on No. 18 Purdue before closing the calendar year with a road matchup versus Dayton on Monday, Dec. 30.
