Former Chippewa Bryce Morrow Signs Minor-League Deal with Padres

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Former Central Michigan baseball pitcher Bryce Morrow has signed a minor-league contract with the San Diego Padres.

Morrow, who most recently was the ace of the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, will report to the Lake Elinsore Storm – the Padres’ High-A affiliate.

A staple of the Chippewas’ rotation from 2007-2011, Morrow spent the last three seasons in the Frontier League pitching for Evansville each of the last two years, as well as the Traverse City Beach Bums in 2011. The right hander earned an all-star bid this season and was 6-2 with a 3.30 earned run average in 11 starts before signing with the big-league club.

The signing gives the CMU baseball program six active pitchers in the minor leagues, as well as Arizona Diamondbacks’ reliever Josh Collmenter.
