Mount Pleasant – The Gold team took a 3-1 lead in the annual Fall World Series with a dramatic come from behind 8-7 win over the Maroon team.
The Maroon team was lead early by Alex Borglin and Colton Bradley, each scoring two runs in the first and third innings.
Redshirt Freshman Adam Collins chipped in with a single up the middle into center field accounting for two RBI.
The Maroon offense jumped out to a six run lead, helped out by timely hitting and pitching mistakes by the Gold Team.
The comeback started with a Morgan Oliver double to left center, Zach Arthur brought Oliver home with a double over the left fielders head. Ryan Heeke kicked off the bottom of the seventh with an infield single to short. Nine straight Gold batters reached safely with seven of them scoring. Oliver continued his strong day with a single that plated the tying and go ahead RBI.
Gold pitchers Pat Kaminska and Skylar Janisse closed the door on the Maroons in the eighth and ninth respectively, shutting down any hopes of a rally. Kaminska tossed a one two three inning while Janisse got the save in the ninth while only giving up a single to Zach Arthur.
The Gold team will look to win the series on Friday at Theunissen Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
