Ann Arbor, Mich. - Central Michigan was unable to handle in-state foe Michigan Sunday afternoon, falling to the No. 19 Wolverines, 30-9.
CMU was in the hole from the start as it did not weigh in No. 9 Corey Keener at 125 pounds. The Wolverines (3-2) were awarded six bonus points for the forfeit to start the dual.
Roth and Horan quickly brought the Chippewas back and tied the dual, 6-6, with a pair of decisions at 133 and 141 pounds. Roth defeated No. 17 Rossi Bruno, 11-4, while Horan claimed a 9-4 decision over Angelo Latora.
Ottinger was able to claim the Chippewas' final victory of the day at 174 pounds, defeating Collin Zeerip by decision, 7-3. The win pulled CMU within striking distance, 18-9, but a pin by Domenic Abounader over senior Craig Kelliher at 184 pounds secured the win for the Maize and Blue.
CMU is back in action Dec. 21 when it travels to Northern Illinois.
