Scouting the Knights
Calvin College enters the week with an overall record of 10-13, but has won eight of its last 10 games. The Knights are led  by Grant Van Putten at the plate, who is hitting .451 with a team-high seven doubles and 16 RBI.

The Chippewas and Knights will be meeting for the 43rd time in program history with CMU holding a 36-6 advantage in the series dating back to 1926. 

Scouting the Spartans
MIchigan State took the first matchup between the two squads on April 2, 4-2, and has claimed each of the last six meetings, including the first two Clash at Comerica contests. 

The Spartans are led by Anthony Chek (.347) and Jordan Keur (.337) at the plate, while their pitching staff bolsters a 3.30 earned run average. 

The Arms
The Chippewas will start a pair of left-handed freshmen in their midweek contests, with Adam Aldred getting the nod Tuesday versus Calvin, while Jimmy McNamara will toe the rubber at Comerica Park Wednesday night. 

Aldred has made five appearances in his debut season and will be making his first career start. McNamara will be making his second start of the year after earning a no decision versus Oakland last Tuesday. 

Finding Their Groove
The Chippewas claimed three of their four contests last week, including earning a series victory at Ball State with wins on Friday and Sunday. CMU's bats came alive on Friday afternoon, scoring a season-high 19 runs to defeat the Cardinals. 

Jacobs' Big Week
Redshirt freshman Neal Jacobs had a RBI in three of the Chippewas' four contests last week and had at least two hits in all three of their games at Ball State. The left fielder finished the week batting .563 (9-for-16) and recorded his team-high fourth home run of the season Saturday afternoon. 

Clash at Comerica History
Wednesday night's contest will mark the third straight season in which the Chippewas and Spartans met at Comerica Park, home of Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers. Michigan State has won each of the first two meetings, 5-2 and 3-1.
