Chippewas Defeat Flashes With Back-to-Back Homeruns

Mount Pleasant, Mich. - Central Michigan Softball won its sixth-straight game to remain undefeated at Margo Jonker Stadium with a 3-0 win over Kent State on Saturday, April 6. Senior Kara Dornbos gave up no runs in her tenth complete game of the season.

The Chippewas broke the 0-0 tie in the third inning with back-to-back homeruns. Senior Summer Knoop walked with two outs to bring junior Cory Delamielleure to the plate. She hit her second homerun of the week to put Central Michigan up 2-0. Sophomore CarolAnn Sexauer extended the lead hitting a deep homerun over the left field wall.

Dornbos pitched her 58th career complete game, moving her into sixth all-time in program history. She struck out six batters and gave up three hits.

DeLamielleure continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-2 with two RBIs. She is hitting .571 over the past five games and has seven RBIs. Sexauer went 1-2 for the game.

Lauren Balodis, Lauren Grimes and Dani Ramos accounted for the Flashes’ three hits. Emma Johnson pitched a complete game, striking out six batters and giving up three hits.

Central Michigan and Kent State will play game two of the series on Sunday, April 7, at 1 p.m. in Margo Jonker Stadium.
