One of the finest two-sport athletes in CMU history... considered the top golfer ever to play for the Chippewas... also an outstanding basketball player... was the No. 1 golfer for three years... finished third and second, respectively, in his final two Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships... twice finished in the top 10 at PGA Tour outings, landing second in the New Orleans Open and sixth at the Greater Greensboro Open... was the Michigan PGA champion twice, and was named the state's Golf Professional of the Year in 1980... also among the top basketball players in Chippewa history, his 1955-56 scoring average (19.5 point per game) and career scoring average (16.8 points) both ranked among the top 10 in the program's history... once scored 46 points in a game and pulled down 24 rebounds in another... a product of Grand Rapids Union High School.
