Served Central Michigan for 25 years... came to Mount Pleasant in 1937 as the football and track coach... earned a 53-18-1 record as the head football coach from 1937-46... started the highly-successful Central Michigan Relays in 1938... was Central's athletics director from 1940-42 then became head of the physical education department, serving in that capacity until his death in 1962... Finch Fieldhouse was named in his honor... born in Howard City... prepped at Rockford and Grand Rapids South high schools... attended CMU where he earned two letters in football and track, and one in baseball.
