Earned 10 letters during his four-year stay at CMU - four in baseball and three each in football and basketball... had a batting average over .400 in four straight seasons, setting a single-season record of .486 in 1941... started three years in basketball, leading the Chippewas to a 40-12 record... scored 10.8 points per game as a senior in 1941... quarterbacked the frosh team to an 8-0 mark in 1937 and the Chippewas were 18-5-1 during his three varsity seasons... named CMU's first Little All-America in 1939... coached at Pinconning, Mount Pleasant and Bay City Central high schools before returning to CMU in 1954... was an assistant football coach from 1954-63 and had an 86-46-2 record as swimming coach from 1955-67... a native of Grand Rapids.
