The Series
Wednesday’s game will be the 38th meeting between the two programs with Central Michigan holding a 31-6 advantage in the series. The two squads split their meetings last season with the Grizzlies claiming an 11-8 victory in Rochester and the Chippewas winning 15-4 at Theunissen Stadium.

First on the Board
Early success has been key to the Chippewas winning games this season as they are 7-1 when leading after the first inning and 8-3 when they score in the first inning. When the Chippewas trail after the first inning, they are 2-6 and are just 2-13 when their opponents score first.

Run, Run, Run
Central Michigan has proven to be one of the fastest teams in the country on the base paths this season as they rank 29th in the country with 54 steals. Freshman Logan Regnier leads the Chippewas with 17 stolen bases, ranking 15th among Division I players.

The Chippewas’ speed has helped translate into extra-base hits resulting in 14 triples which ranks 16th in the country. Regnier has five himself and ranks second in the country, while sophomore Pat MacKenzie’s three triples is good for 51st.

Strike Em’ Out
In large part to sophomores Jordan Foley (10.37 SO/9 inn.) and Matt Trowbridge (14.57 SO/9 inn.), the Chippewas are among the nation’s leaders in strikeouts per nine innings. CMU currently ranks 15th in the country with 8.6 punch outs per nine innings pitched.

Put on Your Walking Shoes
Sophomore Pat MacKenzie will do just about anything to get on base and despite hitting .255 through the first 30 games he is reaching base at a clip of .449. MacKenzie has drawn a MAC-best 28 base on balls in 2013, ranking 19th in the country.
