Skylar VanNatta Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - On Wednesday morning, the Mid-American Conference announced Central Michigan senior midfielder Skylar VanNatta has been named Defensive Player of the Week.

VanNatta was a key contributor in the Maroon and Gold’s 2-1 overtime victory against MAC opponent Ohio on Saturday, October 19. VanNatta recorded her second assist of the season on a penalty corner by passing the ball to junior midfielder Mary Alice Moore for the win. VanNatta proved she can play offense and defense by making crucial play on both, especially defense.

The player of the week award is the second of VanNatta’s career. VanNatta received Offensive Player of the Week in the 2012 season.

The Chippewas are back in action at home this weekend in a conference game against Missouri State on Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m. and playing a non-conference contest versus Northwestern on Sunday, October 27 at noon.
