IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Central Michigan field hockey team was unable to find the back of the cage in its 1-0 loss to No. 10 Stanford (4-1) on Saturday.
The Chippewas and Cardinal could not score in the first half of play. CMU goalkeeper Sadie Reynolds saved 14 shots – including nine in the first half, marking a new season-high. Reynolds has 43 saves in the first six games of the 2013 season.
Stanford’s sophomore back, Clemence Couteau put the Cardinal on the board off a deflection at the 47:05 mark in the second half. The Red and White had 15 shots on goals.
CMU will be facing New Hampshire in a neutral site contest on Saturday, September 21 at 1p.m. and Maine on September 22 at 1p.m. Both contests will be played in Orono, Maine.
