Rheault Forgoes Final Two Seasons, Signs with Baltimore Orioles

UPDATE (6/17/13) - Dylan Rheault will forego his final two seasons at Central Michigan and has signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles. 

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan sophomore Dylan Rheault was drafted in the 19th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon.

Rheault (pronounced Row) was taken with pick No. 579 by the Orioles organization, becoming the ninth CMU pitcher selected in the MLB draft over the last four seasons.

The 6-9 right hander saw action in 14 games in 2013, posting a 1-4 record with a 6.00 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched. Rheault struck out a season-high six batters versus Bethune-Cookman on March 5 and pitched a season-high six innings in a victory at Marshall on March 15.

Rheault had a breakout campaign as a redshirt freshman, finishing with a 2-2 record and 44 strikeouts in 40.2 innings pitched.

A pair of CMU signees were also drafted over the weekend as pitcher Nick Deeg was taken by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round and shortstop Chris Thibideau was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 40th round.
