The Central Michigan gymnastics team huddles prior to their meet versus Kent State on February 11 inside McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas can claim their second-straight regular season conference title Sunday at NIU.

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan gymnastics program can clinch its second-straight regular season Mid-American Conference title Sunday when it travels to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois at 2 p.m.

The Chippewas are currently the only undefeated team in the MAC with a perfect 4-0 record and are 10-3 overall on the season. With a victory over the Huskies (3-4, 2-2 MAC), they will clinch at least a share of the title with Western Michigan still slated to visit McGuirk Arena on March 17.

A win on Sunday would be critical in the Maroon and Gold securing their choice of event order at the MAC Championships, which will also be held at Northern Illinois March 24.

The Closer
The Chippewas posted their best event score of the season in last Sunday's meet versus George Washington, tallying a 49.125 in the final rotation due in part to four gymnasts scoring a 9.8 or better. Freshman Becca Druien tallied a career-best 9.8 and freshman Halle Moraw, sophomore Brittany Petzold and senior Kristin Teubner followed with 9.875s to seal the victory for CMU.

On a Roll
Senior Kristin Teubner has strung together quite the impressive streak of performances in the month of February, tallying a 39-plus all-around score in each of the last three meets. Teubner has twice been named MAC Gymnast of the Week in the month and has scored a 9.8 or better in 75 percent of her events during the stretch.

26 and Counting
Winners of the last two MAC Championships and last season's regular season crown, the Chippewas have outscored MAC opponents in 26 straight meets counted toward MAC standings. CMU has reeled off 14-straight regular season victories and claimed 12 postseason wins in the process. Its last loss to a conference opponent came on Feb. 13, 2010, against Kent State.

Looking Ahead
Following the Chippewas' dual with Northern Illinois Sunday they will travel west for meets at Washington versus the Huskies and San Jose State and Sacramento, Calif., to take on Sacramento State, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific during CMU's spring recess.
