DETROIT — Mother nature did not allow Central Michigan and Michigan State to complete the third annual Clash at Comerica Wednesday night as the contest was suspended in bottom of the fifth inning due to heavy rain.
The Chippewas trailed the Spartans, 1-0, but had runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning when lightning struck and the game was delayed.
Heavy rain began to pour and the delay lasted approximately 51 minutes before officials suspended the game until May 14 at Theunissen Stadium.
The Chippewas and Spartans will resume play where it left off in Mount Pleasant and following the conclusion will play the season-series finale. A start time to resume the game will be announced at a later date.
