The Series
Central Michigan has swept each of the last two series versus Northern Illinois and holds a 72-38 record all time over the Huskies. The Chippewas are also an impressive 21-12 versus NIU under head coach Steve Jaksa

Scouting the Huskies
Northern Illinois enters the weekend series having won four straight, including a three-game sweep of Akron in Avon, Ohio last weekend. The Huskies are led by 11th-year head coach Ed Mathey and are currently tied among the MAC West Division with Western Michigan with a 4-2 record. 

Junior Eli Anderson ranks sixth in the MAC in ERA (2.79) and has posted a 3-3 record to lead the pitching staff, while junior Jeff Zimmerman leads the way at the plate with a .327 batting average and 12 extra-base hits. 

Friday Ace
Sophomore right hander Jordan Foley has been the best pitcher in the Mid-American Conference this season as he currently leads all qualified starters in ERA (0.94), batting average against (.171), hits allowed (30), runs (8), earned runs (5), strikeouts (51) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.56). 

The Senior
Senior Rick Dodridgge has shouldered the load as the veteran leader for the Chippewas and despite a 1-3 record may be having his best season in the Maroon and Gold. Dodridge ranks fifth in the league in ERA (2.45) and second in earned runs allowed (9) among qualified starters. 

The Closer
Sophomore Matt Trowbridge enters the weekend tied for the league lead with five saves and is the only non-starter to rank in the top 10 in the conference in strikeouts. The left hander is striking out 13.92 batters per nine innings and has recorded 33 punch outs in just 21.1 innings pitched. 

Fresh Faces
The freshmen trio of Logan Regnier, Zack Fields and Neal Jacobs has the future looking bright for the Maroon and Gold. Regnier currently leads the CMU in batting average (.313), triples (4) and stolen bases(15), while Fields leads the team leads the team in doubles (9) and extra-base hits (13) and is tied for the team lead in RBI (19) and home runs (3). 

Jacobs has started 25 of 26 games in his redshirt freshman season and is tied for the team lead in home runs and has posted a perfect fielding percentage while roaming left field. 

Run Chippewas Run
CMU has already surpassed its stolen base totals from a year ago having stolen 47-of-55 attempts through the first 27 games. Brothers Logan and Nick Regnier have combined to go 24-for-27 at the top of the order, while sophomore Pat MacKenzie is third on the team with six stolen bags.
