SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Central Michigan Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed at the 58th Annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Chippewas took 4th overall in the 5k women’s gold division race while the men’s squad also finished 4th in the 5-mile gold division race. It was the second team scored meet of the year for both squads.
Senior Krista Parks was the top female finisher for CMU, taking 7th with a new 5k personal record of 17:45.4. Junior Ethan Lievense led the men, taking 3rd with a time of 25:36.7.
Sophomore Kelly Schubert was CMU’s second female finisher, placing 15th with a time of 18:04.6. Fellow sophomore Alyssa Dyer also earned a top-25 finish, as her time of 18:22 earned her a finish of 25th.
Sophomore Nate Ghena finished behind Lievense in 8th place with a time of 25:49. Freshman Spencer Nousain was CMU’s other top-15 finisher, taking 12th with a 25:53 finish.
John Crain of North Central Illinois won the men’s race in 25:15.2, while Courtney Frerichs of UMKC claimed the women’s race in 17:18.2.
The Chippewas will compete next at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 19.
