CMU Looks to Divide and Conquer at Weekend Meets

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Chippewa track and field program will look to continue its streak of MAC automatic qualifiers at this weekend’s meet.

The Maroon and Gold will divide and conquer, as some of its squad will be traveling to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Invitational Friday and Saturday.

“I know it is going to be great competition, in a great facility at a well-run meet,” director of track and field Mark Guthrie said.

Those not traveling to Akron will be competing at the Hillsdale “Wide-Track” Classic at the Biermann Athletic Center at Hillsdale College.

The Men’s squad enters this weekend ranked 13th in the region, while the women are ranked 14th.

The Chippewas have had at least one qualifying mark at the first three meets of the season and will look to continue the streak this weekend.

“We are looking to qualify as many athletes as we can this weekend,” Guthrie said. "That is our goal."
