… CMU defeated Western Michigan for the fifth straight year, their longest winning streak in the series since 1983-97.

Prior to Friday's game, seniors Vince Agnew, Nick Bellore, Matt Berning, Jake Ekkens, Brett Hartmann, Jeff Maddux, Colin Miller, Sean Murnane, Kito Poblah, Tyler Reed, Bobby Seay Jr., Matt Torres and Carl Volny were recognized for their contributions to the Central Michigan football program. CMU also recognized undergraduate assistant coach Chris Starkey, a four-year member of the CMU football program.
Matt Berning was CMU's gameday captain along with season captains Nick Berning, Colin Miller and Kito Poblah.
Karl Dobronski and Jack Bridges represented the late Kurt Dobronski as today's honorary captains. Kurt Dobronski was a two-time All-MAC linebacker (1980-81) who died in a plane crash in Detroit in 1987. Kurt was a four-year letterman (1978-81) and was part of two MAC championship teams. He is the namesake for the Kurt Dobronski Award, presented each year to a CMU senior who demonstrates great effort, intensity and appreciation for the CMU football program.
Kito Poblah's 14-yard reception in the first quarter extended his consecutive games with a reception streak to 34.
Linebacker Nick Bellore started his 51st consecutive game as a Chippewa. The senior has started every game over his prestigious career. The senior finished the game with 11 tackles. Bellore has now finished with 10 or more tackles 23 times in his career.
Senior linebacker Matt Berning's forced fumble in the first quarter was his second of the 2010 season and fifth of his career. The senior matched a career-high 12 tackles in the game.
John Williams recovered his third fumble of the season in the first quarter.
Vince Agnew's forced fumble in the third quarter was the first of his career. Agnew finished the game with a career-high 12 tackles and two pass breakups. Mike Petrucci recovered the fumble on the play, his second fumble recovery of the season.
Running back Carl Volny's 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his fourth touchdown of the season and seventh of his career.
Ryan Radcliff finished the game 23 for 36 for 300 yards and two touchdowns. He now sits seventh in CMU single season history with 2,642 passing yards and eighth in total offense with 2,556 yards. The sophomore has thrown for 300 yards or more in three games this season.
Matt Torres finished his final home game with career-highs in receptions (three) and receiving yards (57).
With his game-winning 5-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, Kito Poblah moved into a tie for seventh place on CMU's career touchdown receptions list with 15.
Linebacker Armond Staten finished the game with a career-high three forced fumbles. The junior also finished the game with a team-high 12 tackles.
