Parks Makes Her Mark in Cross Country Record Books

Mount Pleasant, Mich. - Senior Krista Parks has ran her way into the cross country record books during her four year campaign at CMU.

“From day one she has cemented herself as one of the best ladies to come through this program,” associate head coach Matt Kaczor said. “As a true freshman she was seventh in our conference.”

Parks is the only student-athlete in CMU history to earn All-MAC honors four-straight seasons for women’s cross country. She started this feat earning first team honors as a freshman followed by second team accolades during her sophomore campaign. Parks went on to earn All-MAC first team honors in back-to-back seasons as a junior and senior to close out her tenure as a Chippewa.

The Kentwood, Mich. native placed sixth all time on the top-25 5k performers this year with a 17:45.4 finish at the Notre Dame Invitational in October.

In 2010 Parks moved into second place all time in 6k performances at the MAC Championships finishing in 21:07.6.

During the 2013 season Parks led CMU as the top finisher six out of seven meets and has scored at every single indoor and outdoor track meet except for one during her respected career.

“She is one of those that leads by example. She has been one that has really ramped-up this program,” Kaczor said. “She has just been a special lady that has shown the underclassmen what hard work will do for you.”
