CMU vs. Navy Postgame Notes
Saylor Lavallii returned the Chippewas' first kick return 69 yards for a career long. Lavallii's return was the longest return for the Chippewas this season. It was also the longest kick return since Cody Wilson's 81-yard return against Hampton in 2010.
Curtis Huge made is first appearance on the season at Punter. His first career punt as a Chippewa was for 58 yards. He made five punts for an average of 44.2 yards-per-punt in the game.
Cody Wilson extended his consecutive games with a catch streak to 35 games. He entered the game tied with West Virginia's Tavon Austin for the third longest streak in the NCAA.
Sophomore wide receiver Titus Davis scored a touchdown in his fourth straight game today, hauling in a 29-yard scoring pass late in the second quarter. He has totaled 13 touchdown receptions in just 18 career games. He is now tied for ninth in total career touchdowns. He finished the game with two receptions for 48 yards.
Wilson moved into a tie for third place all-time for career receptions (192) with three catches for 35 yards.
Lavallii rushed for a career long 15-yard rush half way through the third quarter.
Shamari Benton set a new career high with 14 tackles. Coming into tonight's contest, his career high was 12 tackles against Northern Illinois (9/29/12).
Sophomore Defarrel Davis made a season long 39-yard kickoff return late in the third quarter. His previous long on the season was 27-yards at Toledo (10/6/12).
Sophomore Cody Kater completed his first career pass to Tim Phillips after entering in the fourth quarter. The reception was Phillips' first of the season.
Avery Cunningham recorded his first career sack late in the fourth quarter. Cunningham finished the game with 12 tackles.
CMU will continue a four-game home stand on Saturday, Oct. 20 when it welcomes Ball State (3-3) to Kelly/Shorts Stadium for Homecoming.
