Mount Pleasant, Mich. – Central Michigan Volleyball took time out of its preseason training to focus on the mental training session with Carlton Hutcherson, a peak performance coach and team building strategist.
The session involved a presentation by Hutcherson about mental training and visualization technics. The team then had an opportunity to break boards with their hands as a way to get past their fears.
“Sports are a lot more then just the physical and technical aspects of the game,” head coach Erik Olson said. “I think volleyball is 85-90 percent mental, so we brought in Carlton to help us with that mental aspect. Carlton is someone I worked with almost two decades and has brought a lot of success to my past teams.”
Hutcherson has worked with multiple NBA and college teams along with Fortune 500 companies.
The Chippewas wrap up preseason practice with their Maroon vs. Gold scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. The scrimmage takes place in McGuirk Arena and is free to attend.
A group of alumnae will be back in the Maroon and Gold for the scrimmage, including Courtney Kersten, Sarah Warner Conklin, Kaelly Janisch, Erika Neumann, Kelsey Detweiler, Samantha Brawley and Lindsey Dulude.
