MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University director of track and field/cross country Willie Randolph has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee.
Randolph's appointment is a four-year term that continues through Sept. 1, 2015.
"I am honored and excited to join the list of other CMU athletics administrative staff and coaches who represent our university on a number of NCAA committees and cabinets," Randolph said. "I look forward to having a small impact and voice on a national level."
Track and field committee members are selected by division and by geographical location. Among their responsibilities are oversight of the national championships in cross country and both indoor and outdoor track and field.
Randolph also represents the Mid-American Conference on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's executive committee. He will serve in that role until Aug. 31, 2014.
Randolph is in his third year as the director of track and field/cross country at CMU, his alma mater. The Chippewas have produced 12 individual MAC titles, 30 All-MAC performers, 13 NCAA outdoor preliminary qualifiers, five NCAA indoor provisional qualifiers, three NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers, two NCAA Indoor Championships qualifier and one All-American during his tenure. Eight school records have been broken in Randolph's first two years at the helm.
