A pioneer in women's athletics who spent 29 years in the CMU physical education department... was the second woman to be inducted into CMU Athletics Hall of Fame... came to CMU in 1941 as a physical education instructor... became director of the Women's Professional Program in 1958... initiated sports competition for women in field hockey and basketball in 1945... by the 1960s, the program was expanded to a total of nine sports with teams competing against schools from throughout the state... as a field hockey coach from 1948-70, her teams were 28-7-5... earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree from Columbia University.
