MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan softball program is set to compete at the Cardinal Classic this weekend in Lousiville, Ky., playing five games over the course of three days.
The Chippewas (5-4) will start tournament play on Friday at 10 a.m. against Northern Kentucky (1-4) followed by Eastern Kentucky (4-5) at 12:30 p.m.
Saturday’s match-ups include Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m. and Louisville (4-5) at 5:30 p.m.
The Maroon and Gold will conclude tournament play on Sunday against IUPUI (4-4) at 10 a.m.
Junior Trista Cox has been the drive behind the Chippewas offense, leading the team in batting average (.462), hits (12), RBI (11) and homeruns (5).
Morgan Yuncker (2-0) has pitched well on the mound, boasting a 1.76 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched. In 57 at-bats the senior has only given up 12 hits and five runs.
