MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Sophomore Matt Trowbridge has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, the league office announced Friday afternoon.
Trowbridge was one of 18 student-athletes named to the squad after posting a 3.97 grade point average as an accounting major.
The left-handed closer finished his second campaign with the Maroon and Gold by posting a 1-3 record and 2.91 earned run average, striking out 53 batters in 34.0 innings. Trowbridge saved nine games during his sophomore season, marking the second most in program history.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
